Solution for backing up our Okta configurations and User Directory entries

We would like to understand the process of restoring Okta configuration and User data to a prior stable point in time, if it becomes corrupted. Would it be possible to export the data as a backup periodically and restore it if needed? We were unable to locate an existing approach to do so. Can you please point us in the right direction.

    Hi Joel Ridge ,

As per the current capabilities of okta, it will not support backup .You can submit a feature request in the ideas section of the community portal.

But you can use Rockstar extension for chrome to export a lot of data from okta eventhough it is a perfect solution for backup.

    Hi!

We have had similar asks in the past, but we are often directed here in response:

    Okta Trust

Here you can find all of Okta's reports, service availability, compliance, data retention policies, resilience/availability, among many others.

If you are particularly concerned about a single app, setting, user, etc. then you are always free to query the Okta API and store the resulting JSON for your records as well as it will contain most, if not all, of the pertinent data related to its setup. You can find many of those collections for Postman in the below link:

    Import a Postman Collection

Beyond that, I am not aware of a full scale "backup" solution that exists.

I do hope this all helps in your efforts, thanks and good luck!

I too can vouch for the Rockstar extension. The link to the chrome add-on is:

    Rockstar
