wllqx (wllqx) asked a question.

Deactivating SMS MFA, what happens to current SMS users?

Our environment was set up using both Okta Verify and SMS. We now want to turn off SMS as a form of MFA and only use Okta Verify. If I turn off SMS, what happens to the people who are currently enrolled in SMS? Can they continue to use SMS until we reset it or will they all get their MFA reset? Ideally, we would like to have them to be able to continue.

Thanks,

John

    Hi John McCaffrey ,

If you turn off SMS , the users who are recently enrolled wilh SMS can't no longer use SMS as an authenticator . They will prompt to enroll with okta verify.

If my answer helped, remember to mark it as best to increase its visibility for other members of the Okta Community who might have the same questions as you.
