ch84q (ch84q) asked a question.

What is the URL for online Identity Provider metadata?

I'm using OkatPreview to setup a SAML2 Identity Provider for my application to use for authentication. I used to be able to get the URL for the identity provider's metadata, but I can no longer find this information. I've seen other people ask this[1], but the solution was to revert to the classic UI. It looks like the classic UI is no longer available however, so I'm wondering if this feature (metadata URL) is no longer supported?

Hi @ch84q (ch84q) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!

Check the "Sign-on tab" of your app in the Okta Admin Dashboard and under "SAML Signing Certificates" you should see "Actions → View IDP Metadata" - you should be able to get the URL from there.

    SAML Signing Certificates

    Hi @ch84q (ch84q),

If you open the SAML application and click the Sign On tab you should have this below button present. That's where you can find the metadata (all the way at the bottom).

Yes earlier it used to have all the details. But now , open the configured/created app and you can see saml setup instructions on the right side.

Whereabouts is the metadata url on that page? I can't find it 😞

There is a copy of the metadata, but that is static text. There used to be a way of obtaining that text via a GET request to a URL. I'm looking for that URL

URL is not available any more. You have a file to copy and save as .xml and upload in SP or copy individual values from below screen. Most of the applications do support this without url and providing direct values.

Shame; I was hoping for a URL as this will be automatically updated if\when the signing certificate changes. The application that I have supports pasting in the metadata, but it means I have to monitor for when signing certificates expire and roll-over which is not ideal.

I'm surprised that OKTA doesn't support this, especially given that it used to... 😞
