Hi,
I used to work with a dev account and whenever I tried to add the same user again (with the same email, through API) the request was blocked with the message: "errorSummary": "login: An object with this field already exists in the current organization".
Now when I moved to a new production account, the request goes through and user is added successfully, perhaps even resetting the user's password.
How can I change this behavior?

Thank you for posting on the Okta community page!
I have done some research and this error message is generated due to a functionality that is enabled on your dev account, therefore the best route to pursue would be to contact your Account Executive and discuss about the features that are enabled upon your org.
Additionally, if this functionality is enabled, the username is going to be updated with the email address value, resulting in the error mentioned by you.
