tqcgw (tqcgw) asked a question.
Hi ,
We have two different Active Directory domains to integrate with Okta. Some AD user attributes does not exist in both of the two domains. In this case , do we have to create two Okta user profiles , or just one ?
Thanks for your help

Hi @tqcgw (tqcgw) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!
Just one Okta user profile should be enough, if you have users that "reside" on both domains at the same time. It's just a matter of deciding what the main Profile Source will be (See: https://help.okta.com/en-us/Content/Topics/users-groups-profiles/usgp-about-profile-sourcing.htm for details).
For Example, will it be Domain A, Domain B or Okta.
This is important for the correct flow of information.
That being said there are ways in which you can manage certain attributes from different sources. (See: https://help.okta.com/en/prod/Content/Topics/Directory/ad-agent-new-integration.htm for details).
The attributes type and number on the AD side(s) does not constitute an issue as you are free
to add custom/additional attributes to the Okta User Profile as needed. (See: https://help.okta.com/en/prod/Content/Topics/users-groups-profiles/usgp-user-profile-attributes-main.htm for details)
You will however, require at least one server per domain to host the Okta AD Agents.
Please review the following documentation for details:
https://help.okta.com/en-us/Content/Topics/Directory/ad-agent-prerequisites.htm
https://help.okta.com/en/prod/Content/Topics/Directory/ad-agent-new-integration.htm
If my answer helped, remember to mark it as best to increase its visibility for other members of the Okta Community who might have the same questions as you.
Hope it helps!
