ih5uc (ih5uc) asked a question.

Issue with app provisioning

My Okta environment is AD integrated- importing users from AD to Okta which was Phase 1 of the project. Phase 2 is adding Workday application and provisioning users from Workday to Okta. But when I try to import and provision users, it throws an error that the user already exists (through AD). Is there a way to just update the profiles that are coming in from Workday and not create accounts for them in Okta.

Appreciate your help.

Hello @ih5uc (ih5uc)  Thank you for reaching out to our Community!

There could be 2 things that might cause this issue:

    1. the option to create users on the Provisioning tab for Workday is not checked, which needs to be checked to link the accounts
    2. you need to make Workday the highest Profile Master in Okta so that users that are imported from Workday would link the account and not create a new one also to make sure the error you are currently facing will not happen.

Please also see our docs on this:

Thank you Paul for replying to my query. Couple of things that you may need to know.

    1. By default the option in the provisioning tab is to create and update which is left at that. I cannot change it to only update
    2. The profile source in Okta shows Workday as the top priority followed by AD and then LDAP.

Even with this configuration, when I try to import and confirm a user through Workday ( who has already been sourced through AD in Okta), I receive a conflict that the user has already been assigned to Workday user.
