Synchronize Google Groups with Okta

I'm looking for a way to synchronize Google Workspace groups into Okta. It seems like when I enable provisioning in the Google Workspace integration, I'll be able to import all current Google groups into Okta but the documentation makes me think that this is a one-time import and won't update the Okta groups with future changes to the Google Group membership. Can you confirm that this is the case?

 

Is there a way synchronize Google group memberships into Okta on an ongoing basis? It seems like this used to be possible based on older questions I found in the community but all the documentation linked in those questions 404s now.

    @775cv (775cv)​  UPDATE: It just came to my attention that this limitation has been documented under the Google Workspace app.

    So at this point I can only speculate that it's due to a Google API limitation as other apps like O365 do not seem to display this behavior.

    Hi @775cv (775cv)​ , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community. 

     

    You have the option to periodically run "Refresh App Data" from your Okta Admin Dashboard→ Applications→ More→ Refresh App Data. This will help you pull in any new info from the apps.

    If you enable Provisioning, depending on your use case and requirements, you can also schedule imports Google to get new memberships.

    But keep in mind that imports would also bring in new users, so I recommend testing the implementation and options in a preview/demo account first before moving to production, to properly identify the functionality that you require.
