Hi there,
I'm curious as to how long Okta considers two consecutive failed login attempts before locking out the account. For example, I've set my account to be locked after three failed login attempts. So, I'd like to know what happens if I enter incorrect credentials today and then again the next day and then again next day. Will my account be locked out then, or does it take into consideration the time between failed attempts? What is the length of that period?

Hi @servicea.28287 (Customer),
Thank you for posting on Okta community page!
Based on my knowledge, there is no period of time configured to reset this count, therefore if you proceed with the scenario described by you, your account will be locked out on the 3rd day.
Additionally, from what I managed to find, the only way to reset this count would be to insert the correct credentials.
I hope the above information is helpful!
Thanks!
@flaviu.vrinceanu1.5628408972654734E12 (Customer Success Service Delivery) Can you please tell me, in Okta logs, where can we see the failed logon attempts count?
Hi @KiranG.05662 (Customer), You can see the person's profile by searching for that specific user under directory>people. Then select View Logs to view failed login errors such as:
You may also view the entire organization's log in Reports>System logs. You can search for terms like "failed login" and other related ones in the logs' search field to improve your search and see specific types of logs. I hope this clarifies your query. Thanks!
