3yei6 (3yei6) asked a question.

Accessibility issues where the inputs and titles read twice by screen readers.

When testing the Otka widget for A11y with the screen reader we noticed that using the voice over on the forms we foind some issues:

  1. The input fields reads two times.
  2. As well the titles of the forms are being read twice.
  3. After selecting SMS Authentication in MFA, the Country dropdown is reading Link instead of select or dropdown which are the right semantics for this.

Devices tested: Windows,Samsung Galaxy Tablet A8, mobiles - Pixel 6 Pro & iPhone13

  • Dear Johan,

    Thank you for reaching out.

It is interesting your are experiencing that behaviour, I was testing using the inbuilt iOS VoiceOver on my iPhone with the Okta sign in page and input fields and titles were only being read once. I was hearing the link for MFA option but that is the reference in the html (href).

Can you please confirm with Okta widget you are referring to the Okta Sign in page?

Also have you tried with other screen readers like iOS VoiceOver?

Perhaps a short demo of the issue too?

    Regards

    Craig @ Okta
