Getting Error "MSIS7065: There are no registered protocol handlers on path /adfs/oauth2/authorize/ to process the incoming request" when setting up ADFS integration

I am running through the process defined here: https://help.okta.com/en/prod/Content/Topics/integrations/adfs-okta-int.htm however, I am running into an error stating "MSIS7065: There are no registered protocol handlers on path /adfs/oauth2/authorize/ to process the incoming request"

I see the error when ADFS attempts to load the Okta auth frame on the ADFS page.

I have configured Okta to use the MFA as a Service option (versus OpenID Connect), for what it is worth.

Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot or get past this issue?

I was going too fast and forgot some details:

    • ADFS on Windows Server 2019
    • Okta ADFS adapter 1.7.9
  • ffe4r (ffe4r)

Our engineers are currently working on internal tickets regarding this issue.

I do suggest opening an Okta Support ticket so to keep in touch with further updates regarding this.

Was this problem solved? I am getting the same error on Windows 2016 ADFS with Okta ADFS Adapter 1.7.10. SAML-based ADFS relying party trusts are working fine with it but not the OIDC-based applications.

    Hello, same issue here.

Have you got any updates from Okta?

  • Use OktaADFSAdapter-1.7.11 (or newer version if available). It must be configured in "MFA as a service" mode.
