JordanJ.26599 (Customer) asked a question.

Okta RADIUS Disaster Recovery

Anyone been asked to provide a disaster recovery plan for Okta specific to RADIUS? We have a few core apps running RADIUS primary/secondary authentication. We have agents running active/active/active in all our datacenters which is sufficient for most scenarios in which my org encounters a disaster. We need to plan for an event where Okta "cloud" is entirely down thus unable to handle the RADIUS authentication requests. My only thought it to purchase another RADIUS service and keep it "cold" and configure core apps to that service if Okta "cloud" were to ever go down. Any thoughts out there?

  • Hello @JordanJ.26599 (Customer)

    I hope you are having a great day

    there are a few links that will allow you to design the proper disaster recovery plan for your company. The unique requirements of your org determine how you implement high availability and disaster recovery processes.Okta maintains policies and procedures for responding to an emergency or a force

    major event that could damage Customer Data or production systems that contain Customer Data. Such

    procedures include:

    a) Data Backups: A policy for performing periodic backups of production file systems and databases to

    meet the Recovery Point Objective described below;

    b) Disaster Recovery: A formal disaster recovery plan for the production environment designed to minimize

    disruption to the Service, which includes requirements for the disaster plan to be tested on a regular basis, currently four times a year;

    c) RPO / RTO: Recovery Point Objective is no more than 1 hour and Recovery Time Objective is no more

    than 24 hours;

    d) Business Continuity Plan: A formal process to address the framework by which an unplanned event

    might be managed in order to minimize the loss of vital resources, you can learn more about this topic in the following links:
