hx42k (hx42k) asked a question.

Per-User limits and DynamicScale

Hi,

Based on this Rate Limit: https://developer.okta.com/docs/reference/rl-additional-limits/*per-user-limits, we can have 4 request per second per user to Generate or Refresh an Oauth2 token.

In the case we want to increment the Rate Limit, we can use the DynamicScale product. Among the endpoints to which the DynamicScale can be applied (https://developer.okta.com/docs/reference/rl-dynamic-scale/ ), /oauth2/v1/token does not appear in the list.

Is the DynamicScale product applied on the /oauth2/v1/token endpoint?

Thank you

  • Hello @hx42k (hx42k),

    Thanks for posting!

Unfortunately, the DynamicScale rate limits are only applied to the endpoints on the list. However, another option is to request an exception.

You can request a temporary rate limit increase. For example, if you are importing a large number of users and groups, you may need a temporary rate limit increase.

To request an exception, contact Support (opens new window)a minimum of 10 days before you need the increase and provide the following details:

Your Org Name: The entire URL, for example:

    https://example.okta.com or https://example.oktapreview.com

    Endpoints and rates:

The URI needs to have its limits increased and how much of an increase is required.

    Start date and time.

    End date and time.

Business justification: Why do you need the temporary increase.

More information can be found here:

    https://developer.okta.com/docs/reference/rl-best-practices/#request-exceptions

    Hi Natalia,

Thank you for the clarification about the endpoints.

We do not want to temporarily increase the rate limit at this time.

    Regards,

    Rene
