Our Okta is integrated into our AD and uses the UserPrincipalName to log in. In the past, this has always matched the email but going forward this will be different.
Is there any way to make the integration login use the email address instead of the UserPrincipalName from our AD? Ideally, we would want to use both but I don't think that's possible.

It is possible to use the email as intended, but it is necessary to choose one of the options, define how user data is managed and updated when you install the Okta AD Agent, or the needs of your business change.

Yes, you can change from UPN to email address
Or you can use custom with Expression Language as “appuser.email”. Or any other combination too.
Note: If you are using DSSO with IWA.
You need to configure UPN transformation on your Okta IWA Web agents if your company domain that your users specify when they sign in to work is different from the domain that your Okta org is built upon.
For example, your users sign in to work using username@abc.com. and your Okta org contains user names such as username@xyz.com.
