We have multiple user profiles setup. Is it possible to pass the profile type as an attribute to an app?

Unfortunately, this kind of attribute is not one that can be passed automatically. You can create a mapping, but the value for each user would have to be manually set.
or you could make use of the API calls and make a script for it. Please bear in mind that the Okta Support scope does not cover custom API calls.
