LDAP directoy mapping validation fails because ldap doesn't have any groups

The ldap doesnt have any groups assigned or a groups ou, just users. Directory mapping configuration does not allow blank memberattribute and group objectclass and fails to validated since the users dont have any groups assigned or a group objectclass defined. Any suggestions on bypassing the group requirements? We prefer not want to use the workaround of creating a test group and assigning all users to the group to bypass the directory mapping validation.
