    Hi Daisy,

I wanted to understand how does basic Separation of duties work incase we are using OKTA for both Development and Production environment. Since as per various regulations User should not access both Dev and Prod environment using the same credentials. However incase with Okta, it uses the same Active Directory Credentials

  • Hi Animesh,

Thank for the clarification. Okta uses the same Active Directory credentials only if you have integrated the same AD instance with both Okta environments, and have Delegated-authentication enabled. In this case, this is expected behavior that users can use the same AD credentials to log into both Okta orgs.

You may want to connect the Okta Development org to your AD dev instance and connect the Okta production org to your AD prod instance so that you can manage the users and credentials separately.

If you have any further questions, I would recommend opening a support case with us so we can review your specific use case on a call.

    Thank You,
