I have some workflows which I created but I need to apply them in multiple folders for each business unit. Can I turn an existing flow into a template, or build a template of these flows? Trying to avoid re-creating the wheel each time.

You should be able to click the "gear" icon and Export an individual flow or folder and then later Import them into a new folder. This is built-in functionality. If it is not working you may want to open a support case.
Keep in mind all components (Parent/Children/Tables) of a flow must be present in the same folder.
