OKTA Verify - Failed to register for Push Authentication

Hello,

I have Huawei P40 lite (with google services if it matters) and when I try to add my phone for verification method I receive notification "Failed to register for Push Authentication".

This message shows when I scan QR code for my company.

Phone is Huawei P40 lite, Android 10.1.0.261 (C432E1R2P1), notifications are allowed, notifications for application also are allowed.

Please advice how to fix that. For the moment I successfully register company only with code without push notification.

Thanks in advance!

Rumen

  • Hello @elt6c (elt6c) ,

If Okta Verify Push Authentication does not work, but entering the 6 digit token works, then check the following and make sure the below are confirmed before and during Enrollment:

    1. Ensure you have a stable Network Connection or Mobile Data connection by opening your mobile browser and navigating to your organization's Okta website.
    2. Check that Push Notifications are enabled for Okta Verify in your Phone Settings.
    3. Confirm that your device Date and Time is set to Network (or Automatic).
    4. Reboot your device by powering off completely and then powering back on.
    5. Ensure the device is not Jailbroken, does not have a custom security layer or Mobile Device Management (MDM) profile, and that other Applications that could be interfering with delivery of notifications.

If you need to re-enroll after checking these items, the instructions are:

    1. Click your Name on the Okta dashboard
    2. Select Settings
    3. Scroll to Extra Verification
    4. Select Remove
    5. Follow the enrollment process to enroll the new device (or to re-enroll a device restored from backup)

If Push Authentication still does not work, please contact your organization's IT department for assistance.

    Thanks!

    Tim

      • In this case, I would contact your IT Department and ask them to contact our Support team directly so that they can work with our support team to figure out what's going on. Unfortunately, we won't be able to do much without getting some information from the Okta Admins at your company.

Hello I have the same problem, did you find a solution, I don't want to be with 2 cell phones?

    thx very much

  • elt6c (elt6c)

    Hello,

for the moment found solution to add company without Push notification. For every login manually I insert 6 digits code.

  • c2iqg (c2iqg)

hello. And where do you get that 6 digit code?

  • elt6c (elt6c)

When you open app choose Organization -> Scan a QR code -> below we will see "Enter Key Manually". for account name type your name and on second line write key.

Key you can get - when open site from your PC go to profile -> Settings on Extra Verification tab choose Set Up button -> Setup -> iPhone or Android -> Can't scan? (under QR code). From dropdown menu choose "Setup manually without push notifications" and you will see key. Type this key in your phone.

    It's done 🙂
