You should open a support case with Okta for this. I found an internal note about a customer having a similar-sounding issue and it was resolved by applying a Windows update. We have not made that solution public-facing because we were unable to test it (the customer found it, tried it, and said it worked) and so I won't publish it here. But if you contact our support and let them know you heard that there may be a solution to try (it's called "Windows Credentials Provider Widget Freezes and crashes when RDP session starts") then that might help. If it doesn't, they can continue to work with you on it.

  • Hi Douglas,

Judging by the error received alone, it is related to Internet Explorer not trusting the certificate presented by the Okta Widget.

    • Is the Okta Widget hosted by Okta, or on your own host ? If the case is the second then can you please check the certificate presented by your host if it's signed by a CA.
    • Other problem might appear from IE settings that has some specific settings on that machine. Can you please test if sign in to Okta is possible from that specific machine ?

I would recommend you opening a ticket with Support as this requires some more investigation if this persists.

    Thank you,

    Valentin Borcan.
