GregH.00578 (Customer) asked a question.

CSV upload and login attribute

Trying to upload a bunch of test users, I have different logins specified for each (ie: test_admin, test_user, test_manager so 9 different 'roles') The CSV does this twice (test & test2). Al the other required attributes (firstName, lastName, email) are either test or test2. File uploads with no issue, but only imports 2 users.

Checking the Okta Profile, i have the following settings:

Data type

string

Display name

Username

Variable name

user.login

Description

Attribute Length

Between 1 and 100

Attribute required

Yes

Format restrictions

None

User permission

Read-Write

But the user profiles that were imported show the email address as the Username.

I used the downloaded template for the CSV, so I know the columns are named correctly.

How do I make it import the login as the Username so it will import all 18 users?

  • Hello Greg.

By default all the Okta profiles have the login attribute mapped to the username. So when importing the csv you should see the login as the username.

You can confirm this going to People> user > profile.

If this is not happening in this way and you are seeing the Email mapped to username please open a regular case with us and we will perform further troubleshooting.

You will be able to open a case calling at 1-800-219-0964.
