KarenH.16388 (The Aspen Institute) asked a question.
I want to add a subdomain under the federated parent domain in O365 but do not want to change my federated parent domain to subdomain:
- Federated Parent: mydomain.org
- New subdomain under parent: subdomain.mydomain.org
Do these instructions simply allow us to add the subdomain under the federated parent domain: https://support.okta.com/help/s/article/How-can-we-change-our-Office365-federation-from-a-parent-to-a-sub-domain?language=en_US OR does it change the domain that is federated to the subdomain?
Please let me know. -Karen

Hi Karen,
As far as I know is a safe command to replace the subdomain. Also I referenced a Microsoft documentation that may be helpful but you may want to contact Microsoft support as well.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2619062/you-can-t-manage-or-remove-objects-that-were-synchronized-through-the
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/msonline/set-msoldirsyncenabled?view=azureadps-1.0
I was able to successfully add the subdomain under the federated parent domain. No issues.
