Hi,
I noticed that there is an option to disable activation emails when delegated authentication is enabled. I am not clear as why we need to enable activation email if we are using delegated authentication as user would be logging in via AD credentials. Please let me know if i am missing something here.
Agreed, the activation email would likely not be very important with delegated auth, which is why you get the option to turn it off. Maybe a reason for leaving it on is just so that users know that their new Okta account has been created? Maybe some customers will weigh in on whether there are other use cases where that activation email remains useful.
Most AD Del Auth implementations I've worked on have not used activation emails. If the end user has their AD credentials at new hire, they wouldn't need an activation email. However, there may be use cases where you want to provide additional detail in the activation email. It could be custom tailored to provide links to other resources, how to get help/support, or general new hire info as well.
