It looks like that metadata url should be generated via the Okta admin console:

    "

    Okta

In your Okta admin dashboard locate the Sentry app in the Okta Application Network and add it to your organization.

As part of the Okta SSO configuration, you must provide the Okta Identity Provider metadata to Sentry. This URL can be located under the Sign-On Methods SAML2 settings panel, look for the ‘Identity Provider metadata’ link which can may right click and copy link address.

You may refer to the Okta documentation for more detailed setup instructions.

    "

I cannot locate this url via the Sign-On tab. I can, however, find an App Embed link via the General tab. Will this suffice? There is a 12 hour delay between the customer and I. Can somebody from reply form the Otka support team, so we can resolve this issue today please?

  • Alan,

After creating the application there should be a Sign-on tab.

About midway down there is a section that states:

SAML 2.0 is not configured until you complete the setup instructions.

There is a button that will generate app specific info and right below that is a link to the metadata.xml as well.

    Hi Joe,

Thanks for the response. It looks like that option was missing. I deactivated the Sentry app via the admin console. Re-activating the app gives me the option to generate a base URL and Organization Slug. Should these be provided by Sentry, or generated locally? Here are the prompts from he admin console:

Enter your Base URL (required only for SAML authentication). For example, if you log into

    https://sentry.io/acme/, enter:

    https://sentry.io

Enter your Organization Slug (required only for SAML authentication). For example, if you log into

    https://sentry.io/acme/, enter:

    acme
