fz0pv (fz0pv) asked a question.

Provisioning from LDAP to okta, shifting Jira/Confluence user

We're currently investigating what would be involved with migrating from Active Directory based user provisioning, to completing provisioning using Okta, which is our primary system for authentication and authorization.

This would improve the speed and accuracy of user provisioning, and allow us to setup self service application access, which would ease the load on our team and Internal IT.

Do you have any advice, KB or runbook on what would be involved?

We want to ensure that we don't end up with multiple users in multiple directories, and any input on other things to be aware of would be great.

We're also considering simplifying how we use group management once this is implemented; your guidance/a review of our thinking at that point would be really valuable.

Thank you.

Regards,

Suresh

when i set it up Jira does JIT so i matched user accounts best i could(we had 3 diff standards) then sent over all applicable info. Did an import most people matched then i manually added the rest. from there all new users added to the app get provisioned.
