Trouble trying to deploy Okta Plugin for Edge browser

We currenlty block the Microsoft store so we cannot download the Okta browser plugin for Edge. Have other companies had similar issues? We are deploying the plugin to all other browsers as I was able to find the file for them but I'm having trouble finding the MSI file for the okta plugin for the Microsoft Edge browser. How would one acquire that msi file if the store is blocked at a corporate level? Would someone from Okta be able to assist with that?

  • Hi Zach, I've asked my support colleagues to look into this.

In the meantime, does anyone have a similar experience to Zach, and can share how you solved it?

  • Hi Zach,

My name is Valentin from the Okta support team.

I did some research, and unfortunately we do not have a MSI installer file for the Microsoft Edge Okta Plugin, this can only be attained from the Microsoft Store.

    Regards,

We are experiencing this same issue. We have the Microsoft store disabled for our company. We need a way to push out the Plugin for Okta without the store.

  • Anthony, we were able to deploy the Okta plugin ourselves. What we had to do was work with our desktop engineering team is enable the Microsoft Store for Business and from there everything can still be blocked but the desktop engineering team can enable and deploy the plugin using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). Today a user requests to install the plugin and the desktop engineering team automatically deploys the plugin to the machine using SCCM via access to an Active Directory group. The user still has to go install it manually afterwards but we wanted a slow roll it out and do not plan to get many SWA application going immediately but the long term plan is the automatically deploy every where once we have built Okta up internally. Hope this helps.
