f86t5 (f86t5) asked a question.

Use desktop fingerprint readers for mfa?

I was wondering if there is a way to implement desktop fingerprint readers as another form of MFA for users? Okta Verify is a good solution but we have some users that do not have company provided phones and asking them to use their personal phone for work is not a good option. We realize we can use the security question, but that seems less secure. Thoughts?

There is no specific option to select "fingerprint reader" as a factor in Okta. Rather, of the available factor types, some do support fingerprints.

One option is Windows Hello. It supports using a fingerprint reader, but this only works with the Edge browser. This is probably the only one for desktop.

I understand you don't want to use phones, but Okta Verify and Duo can be configured to require a fingerprint to respond to the MFA challenge.
