user is unable to sign in to okta

Hello,

One of my users is unable to sign into Okta. I checked his account in AD. It was set to expire 28th of December 2018. So, I set it back to never expire. But, He is still Not able to sign into Okta. Please advice.

Thank you

Have the user try logging in, and then check the Okta System Log. The System Log can be found in your Okta admin console under Reports > System Log. You can also pull up the user's profile and click the "View Logs" button. This will take you directly to the System Log with a search query already populated to only show logs for that user.

There really are too many potential causes for a failed login to list, but happy to try and list a few common ones.

    • Nothing in the System Log means user may just be logging into the wrong Okta org.
    • If the logs show VERIFICATION_ERROR, they are probably typing the wrong username.
    • Logs might show the user is entering an invalid password.
    • You mentioned AD, so I'm assuming you're using delegated authentication to AD. Check and make sure the user is both active and AD mastered. It will show this in the user's profile.
