remove recovery Question and answer - forgot password API

We have registered and activated a user without setting up a Recovery Question and Answer.

Now when we try reset the password using forgot password api we have got the below error:

It looks the recovery question is mandatory while register a profile.

 statusCode-OKA0000034.

Error message-Forgot password not allowed on specified user.

errorSummary - Recovery credential not set.

(Teh original json respone has modified to support the html tags)

As per our requirements, we don't want to setup recovery question and answer.

Please disable the recovery question and answer for us to reset the password through forgot password api.

  • Thank you for posting on our Community Page.

In order for the users to not be prompted to set up a Security Question + Answer, you have to uncheck this option in your Okta Admin Console -> Security -> Authentication -> Password, under "Additional self-service recovery option"; this also needs be done in order to be able to use API in the manner you have described above.

Also, in case you don't have the option to uncheck the Recovery Question, it probably needs to be enabled, so please open a Support case with us.

    Thank you,
