AlexM.67024 (Customer) asked a question.

Okta SAML integration with Webex (Cisco) app

Hello. I'm trying to setup Webex with Okta using the "Webex (Cisco)" application available on the Okta app directory.

In Webex, the admin console looks different (it's called Webex Control Hub now) and the Okta Setup instructions no longer match. The one thing I can do is import the metadata file, but I get the following error message when testing:

User Authentication Failed

Reason:  SSO protocol error (1)

Anyone has any luck setting up this app with the recent version of Webex Control Hub?

Thanks,

  • The metadata should always work. But seeing as it didn’t it might be down to some misconfiguration.

The steps should still be up to date even if the screenshots do not match.

I would recommend opening a support ticket, so that we may fully help you in this issue.

Alex - I am getting the same error. Did you ever find a solution to your issue?

  • CamA.18967 (Customer)

    Hi,

I am getting the same error from Cisco Webex Meeting Metadata file. Was there ever a solution? Did anyone raise a ticket and did it get addressed? Is the problem on the Okta side or with Cisco Webex.

I also noted that the instructions seem to be out of date.

There are two use cases, depending upon selection of signed or self signed certificate option.

The first fails to import the metadata, the second gives the SSO protocol error as discussed above

Having a similar issue Cisco have told me that Okta have hardcoded their application to point to idbroker.webex.com and because our cisco instance sits on the EU cell it wont work as it needs to talk to idbroker-eu.webex.com.

The application does work for our other Cisco subscription on the US datacentre so it seems to point to Cisco's findings being accurate.

    Just raised a support call...
