BorisT.08243 (Customer) asked a question.

is there a way to enroll users in SMS but not show in list of Factors?

Hello, I want to collect users SMS as a backup (and some notification reasons) but because of some of the issues related to SMS security I don't want them to use it as factor (they will also sign up for okta verify) is there a way to not show SMS on the list of factor choices?

You can first check: Security > Multifactor > Factor Types

This gives you the option to remove this SMS from the end user dashboard ( this will disable the use of SMS as a MFA option all-together )

You can also set SMS as a optional MFA factor and set Okta Verify as the Mandatory Factor. This way you do not need to worry about them skipping the enrolment of Okta Verify.

    Hope this helps !

I am actually interested in making both okta verify and SMS as mandatory during sign up, but after a user signs up basically disable SMS, is there a way to do that?

Sorry for above post, it did not save anything.

    So:

The only way that I can imagine you can do this is if you set SMS as mandatory and force all the users in the company to login to Okta and finish the SMS Enrol Process, and then disable SMS.

The easiest way to do do what you actually want is if you probably set both SMS and another MFA (Okta Verify/Google Auth) as required and create a sign-on policy to prompt for MFA all the time, and the user will select what option is the easiest for him.

The only place where you can actually toggle off SMS all-together is in the ACCOUNT RECOVERY flow.

Not exactly sure about your use case here, but you might want to submit a feature request if this is not exactly what you are searching for.

    Hope this helps !
