1vzpa (1vzpa) asked a question.

OKTA two factor authentication at sea using satellite communications.

I need to connect to virtual desktop which requires two-factor authentication.

Our IT support suggested using the option of OKTA authentication by voice call. The problem with this is that the setup calls for a country selection from a drop-down list which is mandatory field. There is no country code for satellite phone services so I cannot configure this, Any ideas on how to get around this?

In the past we have been able to get a password/ token via email but this is no longer an option.

  • Each satellite provider has a unique prefix followed by an eight or nine digit number. Inmarsat begins with 870 followed by nine digit phone number, Thuraya begins with 882 16 followed by an eight digit number, and for Iridium, the number would begin with 8816 followed by eight digit phone number and we support only country codes, you can suggest this feature on Product>Ideas. For the moment we don't have this enabled for voice call or SMS, I would recommend you that you will choose another factor for MFA, you can view here all our options for Adaptive MFA.
