How to get Okta mobile to open the BambooHR mobile app?
We are using BambooHR SAML in Okta. This works flawlessly on the desktop.

However, when logging in to Okta mobile, BambooHR only opens the app in a mobile browser.

BambooHR app will not allow username/password login due to the SAML integration.

Is there a way to have the Okta mobile app open the BambooHR mobile app?

Sorry Thomas, this does not help me at all. It seems that Okta mobile doesn't open mobile apps.

This makes me question its value and makes it difficult to get users on board.

To do this you would need to deep link the BambooHR mobile app, which I don't believe can be done until the developers of the BambooHR mobile app open up deeplinking.  When it does work, you will most likely set the Okta app's destination or an additional Bookmark app URL to "BambooHR://" Although you will also need a way to handle when a user has not downloaded the app yet and a way to only display this to mobile users.
