G Suite Changes
our g-suite admin forwarded me a document about G Suite login changes that included this: Refreshing the Google Accounts login page

Posted: 03 Apr 2017 02:51 PM PDT

Starting April 5, 2017, we’re rolling out an update to the Google Accounts sign-in page to give users an improved experience to securely sign in to their accounts. This new design will make browser sign-in flows consistent across computers, phones and tablets.

If you use third-party applications within your organization, or you use a third-party Single Sign-on (SSO) provider, we recommend contacting your developer(s) or SSO provider to see if any updates are necessary

So my question is, are any updates necessary?

miqxq and kbazp like this.
  • Mihai N. (Okta, Inc.)

    Hi,

If you are setup to use SAML for authentication, there should be no changes needed. For SWA, Secure Web Authentication, if Google uses the same selectors there should be no changes. If the selectors change with the update, the app will need to be updated, and that change would need to be generated from support.

I recommend opening a Customer Support ticket if you do encounter any issues after the Google deployed this change.

Any changes for G-Suite authentication via SAML 2.0?
  • Hi Alex,

Our engineering team has reviewed the new G Suite flow and testing it both with SWA and SAML app.  They did have to correct an issue found with SWA apps and found no issue with SAML. For reference the internal tracking numbr of this investigation is OKTA-121791.

Instead of G-Sutie App would be better if Okta had Google Apps User Hub https://apps.google.com/user/hub

this way the access to G-Suite apps would be through a single icon on Okta Portal I've tried creating my own app (SAML), but I does not look like it can pass username directly into the new Google Sign-in page for G-Suite.
