Username changes in AD - passed through to OKTA and Provisioned App?
Hi there,

I was testing out how OKTA currently deals with username changes within AD. From what I can see the username changes OK in AD, this sync gets passed through OK to the OKTA profile for the user. Though if the user has been provisioned in an application the username as well as their firstname surname doesn't change within the application they were originally provisioned in. The applications I have tested so far is Salesforce and Adobe AEM. Can anyone shed anyomore light on username changes within OKTA and how certain apps where provisioning is used do or don't handle this very well?

Many thanks

Angie

Hi Angie - you can configure username updates per application by using the profile editor:
    • Directory
    • Profile Editor
    • Apps
    • Your App
    • Map Attributes
    • Okta to Your App
    • Override with mapping (next to Username is set by your app)
    • Pick the attribute you use as username for your app
    • Drop the box with the yellow arrow down and select the green arrow (green is set now and change; yellow is just set now)
    • Save
    • Apply update or don't apply updates (if you apply updates now Okta will evaulate the username for all assigned users and change them if the attribute has changed in the user's Okta profile;  Don't apply now will only update the username for new users going forward)
