Unable to create users using API
I have created a service account gave super admin Privilege and generated token and updated permissions of service account to just group owner and specifed the group name and provided the token to SPA team and they are getting below error when creating a user.

Do I need to give any other permissions to the service account instead of just group owner? SPA team just needs to create, modify and delete users using the API key and nothing else and the current permissions seem to match with Okta documentation.

{"errorCode":"E0000006","errorSummary":"You do not have permission to perform the requested action","errorLink":"E0000006","errorId":"oaeIuLhCw6TRv2EwevtQPmwEQ","errorCauses":[]}

  • Thank you for reaching out to Okta Support, my name is Adrian and I'll be handling your case.

    Please verify and see if the user that you're trying to update/reset password for is assigned to the group that the Group Admin has rights to modify in.

    If the user is not assigned to that group then this is expected behavior.
