first time using browser warnings in O365 thick apps
When signing into Outlook/Skype via ADAL/Modern Auth; our users see the Okta "this is your first time using this browser" warning every time they sign in. It doesn't stop them from completing auth, but it certainly is midly annoying, and it is definity training all my users to completely ignore it. Anyone else seeing the same thing? Is it possible to surpress that message when logging in via the O365 thick app suite?

  • Hi Mark,

This occurs because the browser shell that Office 365 opens is not a fully functional browser, and does not store a session cookie for Okta. This means that whenever a user is prompted for authentication again, Okta sees the request as coming from a new browser, and presents the "this is your first time using this browser" message.

There is currently no way to suppress this using Okta, but this would definitely make for a good enhancement request.

To submit this as an enhancement request, you can do so by going to https://community.okta.com/ and then logging in and clicking on the "Ideas" button in the top-right hand corner of the page, and then select "Post Idea" on the next page. This will open an enhancement request for other members of the community, including our own Product Managers, to see and vote on.

    Thank you,
