Is it mandatory to enable MFA in Okta?

Is it mandatory to enable MFA in Okta? Because I cannot uncheck all the Factors while I am doing it I got the below message

"Multifactor authentication is enabled for at least one app sign on policy, please select at least one acceptable factor"

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Selvakumar

No it's not mandatory, but from the message provided its likely the administrator (from a security point of view) has configured Okta to require it. In this situation users would need to comply and register an MFA type to their accounts.
  • Hi Kevin,

I am using oktapreview account and I am the admin for the domain which is created in OKTA. I remember there was an application which previously has a sign on policy with MFA. Now I removed that application itself. Still It's showing the same message.

    Thanks,

    Selvakumar

Hmm, strange. Is there a sign on policy that's been set that might be causing the issue or just the now deleted application? If the latter you might need to raise a support case.
