Managing Available Licenses Within OKTA - 4 Quick Simple Questions
Hello,

 

1. Where in the Admin Console can the number of remaining licenses available for use be found?

 

2.  Is it safe to assume that when a user is deactivated a license will become free?

 

3. Are there any alerts or notifications sent when the available license count becomes low?

 

4. Does the Admin Console tell you the total number of licenses you have purchased?

    1) There is no place in Admin console to track your Okta license. You will have to monitor youself.

    2) Yes only active users are counted in the user license.

    3) No but this will be tracked by your Okta account manager periodically. They will be providing you the updates if it exceeds. Also if you have customer success manager assigned they will also be able to tell you in ther quarterly meetings.

    Thank you for the response.  Is it safe to say that if I have 417 active users, that means I am consuming 417 licenses, even if I have 50 deactivated users?

    Hi Wayne

     

    That is correct, 417 "active" users consumes 417 licenses. If there are 50 deactivated users aside from those 417 active users, the 50 deactivated users are not consuming licenses.

    Thank you.  My final question - is it safe to assume that if we reach our limit or go over that everything will continue to function?  And that our account manager will contact us to make additional purchases?  We just want to be sure things do not stop working should we reach our limit.
