Can you manage native mail apps through Okta or OMM?
We have a prospect who is using the native mail app as their email service is hosted and configured with Exchange Active Sync profile. Their BYOD environment allows for end users to configure email using the native mobile apps, and they would like to manage the app if Okta is to become their mobile device manager. Does Okta current support or is testing a feature to manage native apps such as notes, maps, and mail for enrolled devices?
wfviu (wfviu)Okta customer here and I recenlty found out about the OMM feature. It is possible to get corporate email on the device through the native mail app leveraging active sync if you have OMM purchased. A profile is installed on the device which lets you manage it from an admins perspective. The admin has the ability to remote wipe the device or corporate apps as well. I believe only the native mail app and Okta apps are supported, don't think maps or notes fall under that.Expand Post- 00u3tixgqmw3fvhuj0h1.4915908553012349E12 (Customer)Hey Lokender, thank you for your help on this. I guess my only question is how did you build the profile connection? Did you leverage UD to accomplish this or an app? Sorry for geeting too into the weeds but nothing I found thus far explains to me how the profile is configured for email. I did test and I have a new profile on my phone but my email was not configured with this profile.Expand Post
