This article provides information regarding a feature that offers the possibility of scheduling the import time for both full and incremental imports in Okta.

Imports by default are scheduled automatically after the amount of time configured (every <number> hours/days) after the previous import job is completed. For example, with an import schedule set to once a day, if the previous import started at 6:00 PM and was completed at 6:05 PM on the same day, the next import will start at 6:05 PM the following day. The import completion time depends on the data that has changed between the two imports.
Cron based User Import scheduling and Workday incremental imports are currently Early Access and may not be automatically enabled for Okta Production orgs by default. In Okta Preview orgs, these Early Access features may already be enabled by default. Workday incremental imports may currently only be enabled by Okta Support.
There are two main capability improvements with both features enabled:
- Imports may now be configured to run at a fixed time on certain days of the week, for example, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 12:00 AM.
- Apps that also support incremental imports may be configured to run both incremental and full imports on a schedule.
Cron based User Import scheduling can be enabled by an Okta Super Admin in the Okta Admin Dashboard under Settings > Features.
If this feature is not on the list, it may already be enabled by default for this org.
Once Cron scheduling is enabled, Admins will have the option to control the exact time the import will be triggered for each app that supports imports.
For orgs that have the Early Access Workday incremental import feature enabled, this will provide the extra settings for configuring each import type separately.
If Workday incremental import is not available to configure, please raise a request with Okta Support to enable it. Support will review if additional features or entitlements are required.
Enabling each feature does not modify existing import schedules and only adds the new feature capabilities.
