Overview

Use the Okta - Smartsheet SCIM integration to manage Smartsheet users through Okta's Active Directory service.  This article demonstrates how to properly set up the SCIM integration between Okta and Smartsheet.

Solution

Before beginning

Make sure to have the following: 

  • An Okta org that has the SCIM Provisioning feature enabled. This feature is tied to the Lifecycle Management SKU. If it is not enabled, please reach out to the designated Okta Account Executive or to Okta Support in order to enable it.
  • A Smartsheet account with the Enterprise plan and SCIM provisioning. In order to activate the SCIM provisioning feature, contact Smartsheet support.

 

On the Smartsheet side

Follow the steps provided in their support article here, under the Prepare Smartsheet for the Okta/SCIM integration section.

 

On the Okta side

  • Log in to Okta and navigate to the Admin Dashboard. 
  • On the left side of the screen, go to Applications Applications Browse App Catalog and search for Smartsheet SCIM.

               

  • Click on Add IntegrationFor the Application label, put the desired name that the app should have in Okta, such as "Smartsheet". 
  • Choose the Sign-On option to use between Secure Web Authentication (SWA) and SAML. If SAML is selected, click on the View Setup Instructions option for more details.
  • Under the Credentials Details section, select Email for the Application Username Format and then select Done. The email is the user's Smartsheet account.

  • Go to the Provisioning tab > click Configure API Integration.

  • Select Enable API Integration and enter the following: 

                         

 

  • The following message should be seen: "Smartsheet SCIM was verified successfully". Then, click Save.
  • Now that the SCIM Application is successfully integrated, under the Provisioning tab, go to To App and enable the desired features.
