Salesforce Community Integration Import Selections
Okta Classic Engine
Okta Identity Engine
Okta Integration Network
Overview

This article details the import selections available in the Okta Integration Network (OIN) app for Salesforce configured as a community integration and the corresponding UserTypes the Salesforce API uses.

Applies To
  • Okta Integration Network (OIN)
  • Salesforce
  • Salesforce Community integration
Cause

When first configuring an instance from the OIN app for Salesforce, the option to select User Profile & Type is provided to select the type of user to provision to or import from Salesforce. This setting cannot be changed after saving the configuration.

When Salesforce Community User is selected and once the API integration is configured, there are further options on the Provisioning > To Okta settings page that further refine the types of Users that are considered during import. The labels for import selections seen in the following screenshot of the Okta admin console UI are general descriptions. The underlying integration must use the specific Salesforce API types for the actual import query.

Solution

The following list shows how the selection in the Okta UI corresponds to the Salesforce UserType used:

  • Import "Customer" users: CSPLitePortal.
  • Import "Customer Community User" users: CustomerSuccess.
  • Import "Customer Community Manager" users: PowerCustomerSuccess.
  • Import "Partner" users: PowerPartner.

For example, checking the box for Import "Customer Community Manager" users in the app imports users with the PowerCustomerSuccess Salesforce UserType on the next import from this Salesforce integration.

This is important to remember when making license changes since PowerPartner is the Partner Community license, PowerCustomerSuccess is the Customer Community Plus license, and CspLitePortal is the Customer Community license.
