This article provides troubleshooting guidance for iOS Okta Verify enrollment errors:
- Operation Failed - unknown("E0000006")
- "E0000006", "You do not have permission to perform the requested action"
- Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
- iOS
- Okta Verify
- Anonymizers
These errors occur when the request to enroll is blocked or unauthorized. A few of the known reasons this can happen include:
- If the iPhone user has iCloud Private Relay enabled.
- VPN Services are interfering with communication.
- Anonymizing - A browser, System, or IP address anonymization paired with an Okta configuration to block anonymizers.
If a VPN, Anonymizer, or iCloud Private Relay is enabled, it is recommended to be disabled/disconnected, or turned off.
To disable iCloud Private Relay on the iPhone or iPad:
- Navigate to Settings > [name] > iCloud.
- Tap Private Relay, and turn off Private Relay.
With Anonymizing services, the errors may be due to legitimate Okta configurations where anonymizers are blocked in a network zone. Disabling these configurations may not be the best solution, as services may be disabled at the device level. For more information, see the Security blog post.
For more details on working with these configurations, please refer to the Related References.
If the errors are due to a configuration-based block, OIE will provide logging details that administrators may search in the Okta System Logs (System logs) with the filter:
"security.request.blocked"
