Okta Browser Plugin Missing Prompt to Save Personal Applications

Single Sign-On
Okta Identity Engine

Overview

Users cannot add personal applications because the Okta Browser Plugin authentication policy is stronger than the Okta End-User Dashboard policy. Configuring the plugin authentication policy rules to be equal to or weaker than the dashboard policy resolves this issue. Even when administrators enable the Allow users to add personal apps setting in the Okta Admin Console under Applications > Self Service > User App Requests > App Catalog Settings, users cannot register personal applications. Additionally, the Prompt to save apps to your Okta dashboard setting does not appear in the Okta Browser Plugin settings.

Okta Browser Plugin Settings

Applies To

  • Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
  • Okta Browser Plugin
  • Secure Web Authentication (SWA)

Cause

The authentication policy for the Okta Browser Plugin does not meet the requirement of being equal to or weaker than the rules protecting the Okta End-User Dashboard.

Solution

How is the Okta Browser Plugin authentication policy configured?

Adjust the authentication policy for the Okta Browser Plugin by reviewing the access requirements.

  • Administrators can allow or deny access to the Okta Browser Plugin for groups and specific users.
  • Administrators must configure the rules protecting access to the Okta Browser Plugin to be the same strength or weaker than the rules protecting the Okta End-User Dashboard.
