Follow these steps to upgrade from version 2024.6.1 (or earlier) to the latest release.

• Okta Access Gateway (OAG) Versions 2024.6.1 or below
• Operating System (OS)
• Upgrade
• Okta Classic Engine
• Okta Identity Engine (OIE)

Due to potential package dependencies and conflicts with older releases, a two-step sequential upgrade is required to ensure a successful transition to the latest release. The steps outlined in this article can also be used to upgrade to any release 2025.10 or newer.

Prerequisites & Compatibility

• Operating System: Ensure the OS version is 8.4 or greater. Steps can be found in the following documentation: Determine the Access Gateway version.
  
  • NOTE: Appliances running an OS version lower than 8.4 are on an unsupported platform. If the OS is lower than 8.4, additional manual configuration is needed before starting the upgrade process. For more information, please refer to the following documentation: Major Okta Access Gateway Upgrade.
• Time Estimate: Upgrades typically take 15 minutes per node, though this varies by environment.
• Please follow the "Before you begin" section in the Okta Access Gateway release notes.

Upgrade Steps

1. Initiate Upgrade to 2025.10: The steps below are to upgrade the OAG appliance to 2025.10. Steps 1-6 of the Install this version section in the OAG Release notes for 2025.10 should be followed. 

This is a summary of the steps to be performed before following the steps below:

Create a system backup, access the Access Gateway Management console, install the required management package if running an older version, and select the target version from the update menu to complete the installation process. (Steps 1-6 OAG Release notes for 2025.10) Step 7 can be omitted.
