NTRadPing Tool Okta RADIUS Server Reply Shows "unknown vendor ID 3375" or "unknown vendor ID [vendorID]"
Okta Classic Engine
Multi-Factor Authentication
Okta Identity Engine
Overview

When running an NTRadPing for testing the RADIUS integration, the RADIUS Server Reply shows one of the following errors:

  • unknown vendor ID 3375
  • unknown vendor ID [vendorID]

Applies To
  • RADIUS
  • Used NTRadping Tool to test
  • Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
  • Okta Classic Engine
Cause

NTRadPing does not recognize the Vendor-Specific and is returning "unknown vendor ID 3375" or "unknown vendor [vendorID]". Since Okta does not own this tool, there are not many details available on the Okta side about this error.

Solution
  1. NTRadPing is just a tool to test communication between Okta and RADIUS, and to verify the installation of RADIUS Servers. (This is not an Okta Tool.)
  2. Check the raddict.dat file, which can be found in the NTRadping install directory. All the supported vendors should be there.
  3. Update the tool to understand the Vendor's dictionary (for example, F5), and this will show up as expected after running an NTRadPing test.
