This article will discuss the requirements Office 365 Users must meet to be successfully imported into Okta.
- Microsoft Office 365
- Provisioning
- Import
By default, Okta can only import an Office 365 user object when ALL conditions of the following user criteria are met:
- target user object must be in Active status (it cannot be in Account Disabled/Blocked sign-in status) in Azure AD/Office Admin Portal.
- target user object has been issued at least one Office 365 license in Azure AD/Office Admin Portal.
- user object must not have empty
firstName, lastName, andemailfield values in the AAD user object profile.
NOTE: The First Name and Last Name properties are NOT mandatory attributes in the Office 365/AAD user profile, so these fields can be easily missed and left empty in the AAD user profile.
To troubleshoot the issue, work with the Microsoft Administrator/Azure AD administrator and perform the below Microsoft user account/profile check:
- In Azure AD, check the user profile.
- In the Office 365 Admin Portal, check the user profile.
In the above example, only three users who met the import requirements will be successfully imported into Okta after the import job completes.
NOTE: Okta Microsoft Office 365 Import does not import any unlicensed Microsoft users by default. For customers looking for Microsoft unlicensed user import functionality, please upvote/subscribe to the corresponding Okta Feature request ticket via the Okta Idea portal, which is currently officially confirmed on the product roadmap: Import Unlicensed Microsoft 365 Users (REF: Okta Ideas Case 195908).
