Okta Microsoft Office 365 API Integration Error AADSTS90002 Tenant Not Found

Overview

An error occurs when enabling the Microsoft Office 365 API integration in Okta due to an incorrect Microsoft tenant name. Resolve this issue by updating the Microsoft tenant name in the application general settings and re-authenticating the integration.

 

When enabling the Microsoft Office 365 API integration by selecting Authenticate with Microsoft Office 365, Okta generates the following error:

 

AADSTS90002: Tenant '<DomainName>.onmicrosoft.com' not found. Check to make sure you have the correct tenant ID and are signing into the correct cloud. Check with your subscription administrator, this may happen if there are no active subscriptions for the tenant.

Cause

This error occurs because the Microsoft Tenant Name is incorrect in the General tab of the Microsoft Office 365 application settings.

Solution

How is the Microsoft Office 365 API integration error resolved?

Update the Microsoft tenant name in the application settings, then re-authenticate the integration with Microsoft Office 365 by following the steps outlined in the video demonstration or the written instructions.



 

  1. Open an incognito window in a browser and sign in to the Okta tenant.
  2. Go to Applications > Applications in the Okta Admin Console.
  3. Select the Microsoft Office 365 application and go to the General tab.
  4. Select Edit, enter the correct Microsoft tenant name, and save the change.
  5. Go to the Provisioning tab and select Integration.
  6. Select the Enable API Integration checkbox.
  7. Select Authenticate with Microsoft Office 365 to provide consent. The Microsoft Azure sign-in page appears.
  8. Select Accept. Upon accepting the scopes in the Microsoft Azure portal, the page redirects back to Okta.
  9. Okta generates a message confirming successful authentication.
  10. Select Save.
