Login Button is Disabled When Using the Okta Browser Plugin with SWA

Administration
Okta Classic Engine
Okta Identity Engine

Overview

This article clarifies why a login button may appear greyed out or disabled when attempting to sign in to Secure Web Authentication (SWA) applications using the Okta Browser Plugin. The user is unable to proceed with the sign-in process because the button is inactive.

Applies To

  • Secure Web Authentication (SWA)
  • Okta Browser Plugin

Cause

A security feature implemented by the website is blocking password managers, which prevents the Okta Browser Plugin from functioning as intended.

NOTE: Depending on implementation, some password managers may work, while others may not.

Solution

This is expected behavior because the security feature is working as intended. To resolve the issue, contact the website vendor directly to request that the security feature be disabled.
