Okta Browser Plugin Pop-Up Appears When Launching SWA Applications
Last Updated:
Overview
When a user launches a Secure Web Authentication (SWA) application from the Okta End-User Dashboard while the Okta Browser Plugin is installed, a pop-up may appear displaying the username and password, with Reveal, Copy to clipboard, and Open in New Tab buttons. This behavior occurs when the setting to hide plugin installation or upgrade messages is enabled. Disabling this setting in the Okta Admin Console eliminates the pop-up.
Applies To
- Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
- Okta Classic Engine
- Secure Web Authentication (SWA)
- Okta Browser Plugin
Cause
This behavior occurs when the Hide plugin installation/upgrade messages from end-users setting in the Customization settings for the Okta Browser Plugin is set to Yes.
Solution
What steps resolve the additional pop-up during SWA application launches?
Navigate to the customizations section in the Admin Console and disable the option to hide plugin installation and upgrade messages from end users.
- Navigate to the Okta Admin Console > Customizations > Other.
- Find the Okta Browser Plugin section and select Edit.
- Set the Hide plugin installation/upgrade messages from end users option to No.
- Select Save.
